Applications no longer accepted

The last donation of IT equipment for Christchurch was delivered to Remarkit on 29/3/2011. As we have had no other donations we cannot fulfil further applications with free IT equipment. We will be allocating out the last equipment over the next week and will be in contact with all current applications.

While we have no further 'free' equipment Remarkit can provide laptops and desktops from our own channels which we can provide at competitive prices for Christchurch organisations and businesses. Please contact our sales team on 04 912 1016 and mention the IT4Christchurch program.

PC Donation Requirements – Remarkit
To support the Christchurch City rebuild, we are asking all of our partners and customers to donate computers, printers, mobile phones and networking equipment. Those who will benefit from these donations are NGOs, schools and small businesses who have no way of replacing those units that were broken and damaged during the earthquake. The minimum specifications for donated hardware are outlined below:
• Pentium 4 3Ghz Processor
• 1Gb RAM
• 80Gb Hard Disk Drive (HDD)
• DVD ROM

Once donated, the hardware will be re-imaged with free copies of Microsoft’s Windows XP operating system and Microsoft Office 2007 Basic. All licensing fees have been waived by Microsoft. As a Microsoft Approved Refurbisher, Remarkit works to a set of criteria to ensure organisations qualify for the donated IT equipment.

To donate IT equipment including PC’s, notebooks, printers, mobile phones and mobile phone chargers, just contact Remarkit Solutions on +64 (4) 912 1020 or visit Remarkit 21 Jamaica Drive, Grenada North, Wellington. You may also find this shipping advice form useful.

Donation & Request update 18.3.2011

Remarkit have had donations ranging from "a mouse" to a "Macbook air" as well as IBM and HP laptops: Thank you to all who donated :-)

There is also the need for LCD's for organisations whose PC's survived the quake but whose monitors were crushed or fell off and damaged during the quake. If you have even 15" or 17" LCD's (scratches are ok) there are organisations who would be very grateful.

23 Feb 2011 - Microsoft Support options available to customers and partners in Christchurch
New Zealand - 16 March 2011
To support the Christchurch City rebuild, donations of computers, printers, mobile phones and networking equipment are needed.
Tim Findlay, Managing Director, at Remarkit Solutions, says New Zealand Trade and Enterprise has already collected 500 personal computers (PCs), printers and networking devices, but many more are required.
"Non-Government organisations (NGOs) are working hard to provide IT equipment to those who need it most – this may be because they lost some of their kit in the earthquake or can’t get access to existing equipment. The need to be connected is greater than usual and we have a fantastic opportunity to lend a hand."
Brett O’Riley, Chief Executive at NZICT Group, says Remarkit Solutions have put together an excellent process for collecting, refurbishing, tracking and distributing the hardware.
"It doesn’t matter what operating system the hardware is using, it can be refurbished. It is fantastic to see Remarkit receiving donations across the full spectrum. It is a mark of the Kiwi spirit that everyone is willing to pitch in and assist during Christchurch’s time of need."

New Zealand - 23 February 2011
Microsoft New Zealand extends its heartfelt thoughts to the Kiwis affected by the earthquake that devastated Christchurch on 22 February.
Microsoft New Zealand is making the following support offerings available to affected customers and business partners. We hope this will help our customers as they respond to the disaster and rebuild their IT capability in the coming weeks and months. This offer is available for customers in the Canterbury Region for an initial 90 day period – Microsoft will review the offer and the period as we learn more about the precise assistance most commonly needed.
  • For consumers (typically with 1 or 2 standalone PCs) experiencing software issues related to Microsoft products, as they restart their PCs, or have to reload software on new PCs, please call our support line for free telephone based support on tel 0800 800 004.
  • For small businesses affected by the earthquake (typically with 1 or more PCs and Servers, and not actively managed by a Microsoft Customer or Partner Account Manager), Microsoft is making available telephone based service incident support calls free of charge by calling 0800 800 004.
  • In addition to the above, Microsoft Managed Partners and Enterprise Managed Customers (defined as the Customers and Partners that have a Microsoft Account Manager) should contact their Account Manager to discuss how Microsoft can help or alternatively utilise the available free priority telephone based technical support (on tel 0800 800 004).
Microsoft is also making available to affected Microsoft Managed Partners and Enterprise Managed Customers, on a case-by-case basis, access to assistance and advice from our Consulting and Premier Support personnel, and access to free Microsoft Online Services (Microsoft Cloud based Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Office Communications Online and Office Live Meeting) for situations where their infrastructure is damaged to the point where they require an alternative messaging & collaboration suite on a temporary basis until such time as they can rebuild.
